Hello,

My name is Sarah Wassberg and I am currently enrolled in the Public History graduate program at SUNY Albany. I’m also working at Historic Huguenot Street in the Visitor Services Department.

With the support of the SUNY Albany Public History department as well as the Museum Association of New York, I have created an organization especially designed to serve the needs of young and new museum professionals in the state of New York. This organization currently only exists online at http://youngmuseumprofessionalsny.ning.com, but in the future will include an annual meeting and conference. The website is a social networking site that includes space for each member to have a profile, post on discussion forums, create and join groups, post pictures, videos, and chat. It is free to join.

My hope is that young professionals will network, start up branch chapters in their locales, and in general just get to know each other and learn from each other.

We are trying to reach as many young museum professionals as possible. The more members we have, the better we can share and learn from each other. If you could please share the news of this new organization with your contacts, I would greatly appreciate it.

Though the focus of the site is young professionals, all are welcome to join, especially those interested in helping to educate and mentor young professionals.

If you have any questions about the organization or would like to be otherwise involved, please let me know.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Sarah Wassberg
