Weekly Update 10: 4/25/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- Send the cover and overall notes layout design to TJ for review and feedback.
- Finalize the overall notes after receiving the updated descriptions from TJ.
- Finalize the accessibility guide.
Weekly Update 9: 4/18/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- Design layouts for covers and overall notes of the accessibility guide.
- Add annotations for each icon and create an icon glossary.
- Adjust the color of the subtitle.
Individual Goal for the Week:
- Helen & Tracy: Design cover layout and create an icon glossary for the guide.
- Alex: Design layout for overall notes.
Weekly Update 8: 4/11/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- Start building in icons and pictures of the accessible guide after getting approval from Matt.
- Come up with a draft version of the accessibility guide.
Weekly Update 7: 4/4/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- More icon design and come up with more guide layout.
- Make sure to stay consistent with the style of the Fort in the design by referring to their website.
- Prepare for meeting with TJ
Individual Goal for the Week:
- Alex & Tracy: Update guide layout and send to TJ for review and feedback
- Helen: Create new icons that received from TJ
Weekly Update 6: 3/28/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- Consider blue color in the existing color palette
- Come up with more vertical versions of guide layout
- Start working on the style guide
- Icon user testing, ask for feedback
Individual Goal for the Week:
- Alex: Add caption to midterm presentation video, organize transcript, upload to class website
- Helen: Update Weekly progress to website
- Tracy: Edit midterm presentation video

- Finish icons and send to TJ

- Helen & Alex – come up with three versions of visitor guides layouts
- Tracy – Send mentor the redesigned icons for review
Weekly Update 4: 3/7/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- Create a list of icons that need to be designed
- Create a style guide for icon design
nOTES
- Icons:
- spotty cell service icon: a cell service icon with a slash?
- reconsider the voice icons; loud sign: for outdoor activities | noise | quite sign

- Icons with circle/circle background
- Use colour/size to differentiations icon categories(amenities vs sensors)

Weekly Update 3: 2/28/23
Project Goal for the Week:
- Each member come up with a different version for Lighting Conditions, Wheelchair, and Temperature icons
- Set up guidelines for the icons
- Get in touch with people from the disability community to review the icons ask what is needed for them
Individual Goal for the Week:
- Helen – Get in touch with previous students to go over icons meanings
Weekly Update 2: 2/21/23 (Competitive Analysis)
Project Goal for the Week:
- Go over all the existed icons and leave comments on where can be improved
- Each group member comes up with multiple icon versions of 1-3 categories (e.g. restroom/crowd level), post on Figma page Icon v2.0
Notes
- Our mentor decided to go with the solid design and the roundness of the icons
To Change:
- Solid ideation set: proportion is a little bit off
- Bathroom: should be drawn within a “perfect square” by stretching it a bit taller
- Wheelchair: scale up
- Third icon: same as bathroom
- Temperature logo: Snowflakes & sun need to be more distinguished from each other
- Not necessary icons:
- bug repellant?
- workshop —> ask last year’s group clarification
- moderate controlled – ask last year’s group for clarification
To Clarify:
- Lighting Conditions onsite:
- natural light: most the outdoor sites
- dim light: 18th-century architecture, solder-xx (natural dim light)
- moderate light: average light in lobby, gallery, office, etc.
- bright light
- Wheelchair accessible vs. wheelchair availability
- Accessible: Wheelchair is accessible in the area
- Available: Wheelchairs provide in a certain areas
- Wheelchair icon can be more active
