Project goal for week: Work on the finishing touches of the website and deliverables

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Change the figure numbers of the physical guidelines so that they are in chronological order
  • Xin – Edit captions of final presentation and add onto video transcript of final presentation

Week 11, 5/5/22

Project goal for week: Complete final presentation, Meet with project mentors via Zoom for the fourth time on 5/6

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Finalize citing and resources page of the physical guidelines
  • Team – Finalize Google Slides and record final presentation

Week 10, 4/28/22

Project goal for week: Wrap up deliverables, Meet with project mentors via Zoom for the fourth time on 4/29 [CANCELLED]

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Work on topics 9-10 of the physical guidelines, which are Temperature and Events in the Galleries, Insert figures onto the physical guidelines

Overview of what was accomplished: Wrapped up the physical guidelines and awaiting feedback from mentors

Week 9, 4/21/22

Project goal for week: Meet with project mentors via Zoom for the third time on 4/22

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Work on topics 6-8 of the physical guidelines, which are Circulation route, Furniture, and Lighting

Project goal for week: Continue to expand on deliverables

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Work on topic 5 of the physical guidelines, which is Audio-only, Audiovisuals, and Interactives

Week 7, 4/7/22

Project goal for week: Consider feedback post midterm presentation and meet with project mentors for the second via Zoom 

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Work on topic 4 of the physical guidelines, which is Label Information and Design, Create report based on feedback post midterm presentation
  • Xin – Start on topics to address in social map

Week 5, 3/24/22

Project goal for week: Start on midterm presentation

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi and Xin  – Update project mentors on the progress of our project

Overview of what was accomplished: Started on GDoc where guidelines will be accessed, started on midterm presentation, and narrowed down the list of topics to address guidelines

Week 4, 3/10/22

Project goal for week: Meet with project mentors in-person on 3/9 to get a tour of the galleries at NYU’s Bobst Library

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Create a list of topics to address for NYU accessibility guidelines

Overview of what was accomplished:

Snapshot of the Ceremonial Techne exhibit in NYU Bobst Library: Mamdouha S. Bobst Gallery, 1st floor

Team held the first in-person meeting together on 3/9 at the NYU Bobst Library. Report based on meeting can be accessed here. Project mentors gave project members a tour throughout the galleries on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th floor. The 1st floor has the Mamdouha S. Bobst Gallery. The 3rd floor has the Special Collections. The 7th floor has the Avery Fisher Center for Music & Media. Project members gained insight on what could be implemented in the physical guidelines based on what was observed in the galleries

Week 3, 3/3/22

Project goal for week: Meet with project mentors in-person on 3/4 to get a tour of the galleries at NYU’s Bobst Library [RESCHEDULED to 3/9]

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi and Xin – Do additional research suggested by project mentors on:
    • Bobst Library’s website that provides information about the gallery spaces and events/exhibitions offered by NYU Libraries
    • Other libraries that offer events and exhibitions (other academic libraries and public libraries like the New York Public Library)
    • Accessibility guidelines from organizations like: Smithsonian, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the American Library Association (ALA)

Overview of what was accomplished: Create folders filled of research regarding accessible web design, interactive objects, library guidelines, and museum guidelines

Week 2, 2/24/22

Project goal for week: Meet with project mentors for the first time via Zoom to understand what is needed within NYU’s Bobst Library

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Share the following project ideas with the team:
    • RETU(R)NINGS – Making the sound installation accessible for individuals with auditory impairments
    • Ceremonial Techne – Create tactile graphics or 3D printed replicas of the pandemic-themed tarot cards for individuals with visual impairment

Week 1, 2/17/22

Project goal for week: Reach out to project mentors via email

Individual goal for the week:

  • Carmi – Read Smithsonian Accessible Exhibition Design, read Smithsonian Inclusive Digital Interactives, and research upon accessibility and sensory guidelines at other university libraries 

Overview of what was accomplished: Team members met for the first time and discussed project interests with each other. Carmi is in the Occupational Therapy Program and Xin is in the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP)
