For this Project I wanted to implement creative captioning for the short film, Cindy Goes to a Party

Step 1: Watching the film all the way through and adding captions on Premier Pro | Some dialogue was hard to understand on my end, so I ended up looking for the same video on youtube unfortunately the captions offered on there weren’t the most useful. So I did my best to make it as accurate as possible.

Step 2: Creative captions | After working on the dialogue, I switched the subtitles to be on text layer in premier so that I could edit text movement and color. Here I was working on conveying the upbeat and cheerfulness of the introductory audio through color. I included a Before and after on the right that shows the liveliness of the text changing once I played around with color. |
More Examples: | As I continued My creative captioning process, I made sure to play around with Typography, font-size, Movement, Color, etc.
I made sure to give each character a designated color. Dennis was blue and Cindy was given pink.

What is the theme of the work?
The theme of this piece is about making a short film accessible through caption work and other creative implementations which in my case was a specific color palette and different text positions and size.
How is that theme particularly expressed through the modality of the week?
I wanted to convey specific emotions of the text on the screen through color and text movement. For the very beginning of the film, a happy upbeat song was being played to convey this I made the text colors change and move.
Which elements of the work are beautifully/wonderfully/perfectly expressed through the modality?
The dialogue being shared between characters were respected, I only made edited and played around with the text when it came to music and sound effects.
Which elements are lost or inexpressible through the modality of the week?
Given the respect to the dialogue, I didn’t implement plain language in this piece.

One way to remix this piece is to make sure to tweak the dialogue so that it’s more comprehensible as well as rework the audio, since some dialogue was hard to understand.
