Project Description: What format is it? Is it interactive? Does it have sound? Video? Describe how a person would conduct this survey.
The format of this project is idealized, a webpage, but this is submitted as a wireframe of what the webpage would be like. The project doesn’t have sound, nor a video, but a person would interact with this survey by either taking it by themselves with someone in the room to answer questions, or taking it with a person sitting next to them to read the questions out/answer questions.
Documentation:
If it’s interactive, make a video (screen recording is fine, if it’s digital) of your survey being interacted with. Include images with alt-text and captions.

Reflection Questions:
Why did you choose this modality? Which elements of the original did you keep, if any? Why? Which elements of the original survey did you change? How did you change them? Why?
I chose this modality because I thought that people might want more privacy when answering such personal questions about their dreams. I think that doing the survey in this form allows the person to answer more honestly, since it can be a little awkward when someone asks you such intimate things. Of the elements on the original survey I kept the questions primarily the same, but I rephrased them into plain language and also into language that is easier for someone to understand based on reading level. I kept the questions because I felt like they were the core of the survey itself, and were the thing that actively tried to achieve the objective of the survey. I changed the images and icon. This is because I thought the images and icons were very unclear and non inclusive of everyone that could possibly take the survey. I changed these to more graphic images that could be more inclusive and also be more engaging to look at for individuals who enjoyed more ‘cartoon-ish’ styles.
Post-evaluation reflection:
Did you get the information you wanted? Do you feel that certain elements of your redesigned survey worked for you in eliciting information? Do you think that certain elements worked against you in discovering information? Is there anything you would change or add to your survey for a next iteration of it, based on feedback from HeartShare?
I think that I got the information I wanted. I think that the elements that worked for me were the images because I think they clearly exemplified an idea. Because I couldn’t make images for everything, I felt as though the questions that lacked a relating image, were more unclear. Another thing that worked well were the reading levels, it allowed me to rephrase a question if Liz didn’t understand something in an easier way. I think elements that worked agains me were the phrasing of my questions. I thought that making more ideas of support would clarify the question, but I found that during my interview, this could be interpreted in more ways than I had initially planned. If I were to improve this, I would actually make it functional, which my note-taker gave me a recommendation to do. Some of the changes I actually did make, like adding a question about physical resources and also making some parts of it more interactive/functional in the Figma.
