Final Project [Jeffrey Guo]

Project Description:

My survey is intended to be conducted through selecting the answers on a digital screen, with the options of filling up one’s own answers if they are not one of the options. It has sound to help people better understand the choices. People would simply take the survey on a tablet with an observer beside taking notes of the answers.

Reflection Questions:

I chose the modality of implementing sound in the survey options as being more approachable to people with visual disability, and provide another mean for people to understand what does this option mean. Reflecting back to the original survey by Heartshare, I use the same questions but phrase more specifically, because the questions selected by Heartshare’s original survey bring a lot of aspects into knowing the inconvenience someone faces. I change the delivering method, from free response to more like a multiple choice question, but with the capability for someone to answer freely. Also, I use images, icons, and voices to become more inclusive.

Post-evaluation reflection:

I don’t think I get enough useful information from the survey I’ve done in class. I feel the questions I chose is not very relatable with my participants. The photo description and the option choices definitely help my participant come up with am answer, but given the nature of multiple choice question, its less likely to get a long, elaborated response from someone, given the easiest way is to select one of the simpler answers. In my next iteration, I will take the advice given by Will and include audio clips to explain certain elements of my images to make it more clear, and provide more detailed options for people to choose from.
