Final Project Devynne Best
Project Description: For my interpretation of the Heartshare survey, I made it physically interactive. My survey uses a slide show for the questions that can easily be printed out for it to be in a physical form. The questions had icons on them that matched with icons that represented the images that were printed out and laminated for the survey taker to physically interact with like by drawing on it or moving images around. This survey was designed to be conducted by a facilitator but be used as a way to start a conversation between the facilitator and the one being interviewed.

My laminated images.
Reflection Questions:
Why did you choose this modality? Which elements of the original did you keep, if any? Why? Which elements of the original survey did you change? How did you change them? Why?
I chose this modality because when first hearing the survey being discussed with Will, they pointed out the need for interactivity with the participants of the survey, since the original was very one directional, with it being more on the facilitator to lead the conversation. From the original survey, I tried to pursue the same information that I believed it was attempting to achieve with the questions just in simpler words and more questions. I felt it was necessary to keep this integral part of the survey while just offering a more useful way of getting there. Elements that I changed were the images. The original survey featured photography for images that were pretty vague and bland. For my survey, I felt that having colorful collage-like images made from illustrations were more enticing for engagement.
Post-evaluation reflection:
Did you get the information you wanted? Do you feel that certain elements of your redesigned survey worked for you in eliciting information? Do you think that certain elements worked against you in discovering information? Is there anything you would change or add to your survey for a next iteration of it, based on feedback from HeartShare?
Form the evaluation, I got pretty valuable information. I saw how the elements of my survey worked with real participants. I noticed that my images weren’t as engaging as I expected them to be and caused a little bit of confusion in how they should be interacted with. I think maybe having different iterations of the images that either feature more specific and smaller cards or larger and more detailed cards with many options would be helpful.
