LEGO Game Proposal
Project Name:
- What real-life experience do you want to embed in your lego game?
At first, I wanted to make it a straightforward experience of putting together Lego, i.e. players can move the blocks in the game to build freely (kind of like a Lego version of MC). Then I found it too difficult to implement such an operation, and I wanted to make a farming game. Finally, I gave in and found that the best thing I could achieve with my current capabilities was a move-dodge-collect type of game. As I pondered what kind of real-life experience could be embedded in such a way of action, I came up with delivery. To make it a little more game-like and interesting, the scene was set at Christmas, and the delivery guy was Santa Claus.
- What is the creative game experience reflecting the real-life experience?
It feels like nonsense, but I set these crazy Christmas creatures as impatient guests. Guests have different levels of friendliness, for example, the Elk is friendly – it could even be set to love you, so it would wiggle its body close to you, but I didn’t use it because that would be a clear offense to the characterization. The yeti is a generally impatient guest, tooling in one direction with low frequency. The giant gingerbread man, on the other hand, is an angry guest, stalking at high intensity against the player. There are times when customers keep rushing the deliveryman or even bad-mouthing him, which in turn can be counterproductive and interfere with the delivery person. I’m thinking about the possibility of creating a mechanism that allows players to defeat the gingerbread man.
- Documentation part of the 1st-week development.
I first followed the official tutorial to learn the basics of this template and found a lot of great Christmas models. Then I inserted the music and menu screens. The next plan was to better arrange the layout to make it more like a delivery route and add text to guide the additional backstory. Finally, I’m working on the sky and background music settings to hopefully change the ambiance when the gingerbread man goes crazy.
