Project Title

NOWhere to Adventure 

Project Statement of Purpose

Under the background of the pandemic, most of us in China are highly restricted by the situation and the policy of COVID. In addition, lots of people are facing the contradiction between working and relaxing. The project we’ll make can bring the user an immersive interactive experience of an worldwide adventure without worrying about being quarantined and spending time traveling. We hope that our project can provide a chance for people who are unable to travel to relax and experience nature and the world. 

Project Proposal Plan

Our project is aimed at providing our user travel experience and cureness through a open world like real environment digital game. The making procedure of our project will be divided into 3 different parts. The first part is Research. We will reach out to our potential user and find their preference of the scenes and functions. Also, we will find related academic articles to provide theoretical support in order to make our project more interactive and immersive. The research part will be finished in one week. Then the second part will be the design part. We will according to our research to specify the final design of our project. The design contains apperance design, structure design, mechanical design, gameplay design, and circuit design. We will spend one more week on the design part. Then the last part will be fabrication. The fabrication part will contain coding, building, and user testing. This part will last at most two weeks.

Context and Significance

The preparatory research and analysis will determine the function and gameplay of our project. We’ll go through the research related to the interaction to make our project more interactive and immersive. Also we will go through academic paper related to the game to design proper gameplay and narrative. The proposal makes our project fit in the definition of “Dynamic-Interactive”. The user is the controller of the installation and the installation will response to the user’s operation. In addition, we are trying to make the project a “Dynamic-Interactive (Varying)” one. We probably design a memberable avatar for the user to choose. Differnet interaction will happen after the user play with the installation several times. The uniqueness of our project is that it can provide a more real and immersive interaction than the virtual travel on the web page or in the game since it’s touchable and realistic. We aim at the people who are unable to travel to relax and experience nature and the world. It’s important for them because it can provide emotional value like relieving anxiety and providing space for relaxation. After successful completion, the we will develop the modular version of our project to fit in a various of user’s needs.
