For the diptych assignment, I decided to choose the theme of nature since on Long Island, I live very close to the beach. Where I live is very different from New York City, and somehow makes me feel more relaxed. I think this has to be because I am surrounded more by nature rather than tall buildings. I want to capture images of sunsets and sunrises on the beach because I view sunrises as a new beginning while sunsets signify that everything is ever-changing, and despite life having ups and downs, it won’t stay like that forever. The skies are always very warm, so I want to use warm hues such as yellow, bright orange, and bright magenta while also using shades of blue to represent the ocean. I want to show the beauty of nature and how nature is harmonious. In this case, I want to depict how the beach is visually alluring using a relaxing color scheme.
