We value the importance of student participation in the conference for their professional, educational, and research growth. Introducing the ACNS Student Travel Grant, we aim to assist students with demonstrated financial need.
The grant enables more students to attend the ACNS conference and actively engage in activities like poster presentations and technical sessions.
We encourage interested students to apply for this program. Successful applicants will receive in-kind support (flight tickets and accommodation up to $1500, and free registration), enabling them to make necessary arrangements to attend the conference.
Eligibility
The grant is available for students who wish to attend ACNS 2024 and would not be able without the grant. The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- The student must demonstrate that they cannot attend the conference without the support provided by this program (as confirmed in a letter from the student’s advisor).
- The student should either a) Not be a co-author in any paper of the conference, or b) Be a co-author in a paper of the conference but someone else is coming to present the paper, paying for the registration of the paper and their own travel expenses.
- Preference will be given to Ph.D. students.
- The applicant must be a student at the time of application.
- Applicants participating in the poster session are welcome to submit the student grant application.
Evaluation Committee
The evaluation of the ACNS Student Travel Grant will be overseen by the Student Travel Grant Chair, Lilas Alrahis, who will then seek approval from the ACNS Executive Committee. To maintain the program’s integrity, any potential conflicts of interest, whether actual or perceived, between committee members and applicants will be effectively managed.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be reviewed based on the following evaluation criteria:
- Demonstrated need and lack of alternatives: The committee will assess the financial need of the applicant and their inability to attend the conference without the support provided by the program.
- Opportunity to improve conference diversity: The committee will consider how the attendance of the applicant will contribute to the diversity and inclusivity of the conference.
- Benefits to the student: The committee will evaluate the potential benefits of attending the conference for the student’s professional, educational, and research development.
