I am an Associate Professor of Economics at NYUAD. My research interests are at the intersection of Labor Economics and Political Economy, and often take place in a developing economy context. The first part of my research agenda examines how labor markets work in conflict-prone areas. My work documents how social and economic outcomes are shaped by politically-motivated conflict and restrictions on the movement of goods and labor. The second part of my research agenda is concerned with increasing our understanding of the causes of inequality. I have a number of projects that examine the role of immigrant integration, intergenerational mobility, location, job titles, birth order and social identification.
