Mars Surface Science

Using data from NASA’s Curiosity and Perseverance rovers, field exploration and laboratory experiments, we investigate the behavior of organics on Mars. Martian regolith consists of perchlorates, which are highly oxidizing chemicals and can degrade organic molecules quickly. This process is enhanced by intense UV radiation on the surface because the thin Martian atmosphere provides very little shielding.
Lunar Experiments on board MBRSC’s Lunar rover

We are developing three experiments for their ride to the Lunar surface:
- MAGLUNAR: MAGnetic properties of the LUNAr Regolith experiment
- ONION: OrgaNIc degradatiOn on the mooN experiment
- ELECTRA: ELECtrostaTic propeRties of the lunAr regolith experiment
UAE Space Agency’s Emirates Mission to the Asteroid belt

Scheduled to launch in 2028, the mission will explore seven main belt asteroids. The mission goals are: 1) Understand the origins and evolution of water-rich asteroids, 2) Assess resource potential of asteroids, and 3) Prepare the way for future asteroid resource use.
