This project was a fitting end to a very fruitful and informative course. During these three weeks, I’ve learned so much information that I was completely unaware of regarding plastics. And this final project was a very hands on cumulation of many of the facts and motives that I have gained throughout the course.
We set out on making a planting pot that was made completely from the waste of the NYUAD community. The pot would be made from plastic from discarded bottles, and the soil would be made from discarded food which was turned into food compost.
What I loved the most about this project is how we built a final product completely from the ground up. How it went from just an idea, to a fully realized object that feels legit. The outcome was really well done, and I felt accomplished in turning trash into something that does not feel like trash.
