Before attending Heather’s presentation I genuinely did not know plastic was used in the making of clothes that we are able to wear. Till now this idea is a little mind-blowing to me, and for it to make sense in my mind will take some more time and research in the way these fabrics are manufactured.
Nonetheless, I found the topic Heather discussed to be quite eye-opening, to say the least. It got me questioning what exactly I choose to buy and whether it aligns with my morals. The idea that the clothes I chose to put on aligning with my morals is an idea that completely slipped my mind which is why I am baffled by all of what Heather had mentioned.
The efforts these large-scale clothing brands put towards attempting to solve this issue of using these plastics in their fabrics are not enough to create reasonable changes or even slight efforts to eradicate the flaws in this method of clothing manufacturing.
I believe that people should be investing in quality pieces of clothing rather than clothing from fast fashion brands. Not only will this allow for pieces of clothing to last longer, but this will also stress on those manufacturers to further change their means of manufacturing their clothes.
