Today’s speaker was Adele Foucart, cofounder of Precious Plastic Shanghai. She gave an informative talk on her journey with Precious Plastic Shanghai; how it started as a side event to where it is now as a full company.
What I took from this talk which reinforces ideas from the previous speaker is how it truly was a process. Precious Plastic Shanghai encountered many obstacles along the way and had to adapt as they went on. They spent three months on machines and prototypes before they even melted their first plastic; and even that was just a new begining which they had to evolve in order to reach the level they are at now.
Another idea I found really informative from today’s speaker is that when taking on new ideas, we should come at it from our own strengths and interests. Along with this, we should collaborate with other people who will approach it from their own fields in order to complete the project. Our speaker Adele had a background in design, so she approached Precious Plastic Shanghai from her own strength and worked with others who for example specialized more on machinery. This teamwork really allowed them to achieve this vision of Precious Plastic Shanghai and contribute to their cause in a way that would not be practical otherwise.
