With the new oEmbed features enabled in the Web Publishing service, all you need to do to embed a YouTube or Vimeo video into a post or page is to post the URL to it into your content area. Make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post).
Web Publishing will automatically turn that into a YouTube embed and you no longer need to use the YouTube embed button located on the toolbar.
Also, you can optionally wrap the URL in the [embed] shortcode. It will accomplish the same effect, but does not require the URL to be on its own line. It also allows you to set a maximum (but not fixed) width and height, like so: [embed width=”123″ height=”456″]…[/embed]
Action Needed
Please update all your current Youtube and Vimeo video embeds and remove the [youtube] or [vimeo] shortcodes as we will be removing the current YouTube and Vimeo embed plugin on Friday, October 31st.
